Install the agent on Windows

Download the installer from your account, paste your company code, choose what to protect.

The agent is a small program that runs in the background on each computer and does the backups. One installer works for laptops, desktops and Windows servers.

Before you start

• Windows 10 or 11, or Windows Server 2016 or newer (64-bit).
• An administrator account on the computer — the installer asks for permission once.
• Internet access over HTTPS (port 443). Nothing needs to be opened towards the computer; see Network and firewall.

Install

1. Sign in at beyondcloudbackup.com and open Your account.
2. Under Install on your computers, click Download for Windows and copy your company code with the Copy button.
3. Run BeyondCloudAgentSetup.exe. If Windows asks whether to allow the app to make changes, click Yes.
4. When the installer asks for the code, paste it and click Next. The computer registers itself with your company.
5. Click Install, then Finish. The agent starts right away and again every time Windows starts.

Within a minute the computer appears under Your computers in your account.

Choose what to protect

1. Open Beyond Cloud Backup from the Start menu.
2. Go to Backup and choose Files and folders — or a database, if one is installed (see SQL Server and MySQL).
3. Add the folders, choose the schedule and how long to keep restore points, then Save.
4. Click Run now for the first backup, or let it run at the scheduled time.

Tip — The first backup copies everything and takes the longest. After that only changes are sent, so backups are much quicker.

Updating

Updates are installed for you; there is nothing to do. Running the installer again on a computer that already has the agent updates it and keeps its settings and backups.
