Network and firewall
The agent only makes outgoing HTTPS connections — no ports to open.
The agent always starts the connection itself, over HTTPS. You don't need to open any port towards the computer, set up a VPN or change your router.
What the agent connects to
| Destination | Port | Used for |
|---|---|---|
app.beyondcloudbackup.com |
443 (HTTPS) | Schedules, reports, updates |
| Beyond Cloud Vault (EU) | 443 (HTTPS) | Storing and restoring the encrypted backups |
If your firewall only allows listed addresses, allow outgoing HTTPS to app.beyondcloudbackup.com and to *.backblazeb2.com (the storage behind Beyond Cloud Vault, in the EU).
Proxy servers and HTTPS inspection
If all internet traffic must go through a proxy, write to support before installing. A firewall that inspects HTTPS traffic must let these addresses through unchanged — backups are encrypted end to end, and the agent checks the certificates.
Bandwidth
Backups use as much bandwidth as is available. The first backup of a large computer can take a while; schedule it for the evening if your connection is shared.
