Restore a database to a point in time
Bring a SQL Server or MySQL database back to the exact minute you need.
- Open Beyond Cloud Backup → Databases → Restore.
- Choose the database and the moment to go back to. With log backups you can pick any minute between the first full backup and the latest log backup.
- Choose how to restore:
- As a new database (default) — for example
Invoices_copy. The current database is not touched, so you can check the data first. - Replace the database — overwrites the current one.
- Backup files to a folder — gives you the
.bak/.trn(SQL Server) or.sqland binary logs (MySQL) to restore yourself.
- As a new database (default) — for example
- Click Restore. The agent fetches the full backup, the differential and the logs it needs, and applies them in order.
Note — Restoring over a database disconnects its users. Prefer a new name, check it, then switch your application over.
